My effort to fix everything

We need to fix the way we understand what is wrong and how to fix it. I’m not proposing anything new: we just need to use the tools that have existed for thousands of years.

The Egyptian goddess Maat used a scale, much like Lady Justice, to weigh both sides of an issue. This simple but powerful tool can help us avoid bias and make more informed decisions.

It is striking how our ancestors recognized the dangers of doubting our doubts eons ago, yet we find ourselves ensnared in the web of persuasive essays (also known as propaganda). Why do political parties still only publish information that supports their conclusions? Proving your point means nothing when you don’t let the other side take the field. Have we not grown past that yet?

I believe that we can do better. The answers lie not in new inventions, but in resurrecting these ancient virtues of impartiality and truth-seeking. It is time to mend the rifts in our understanding and rekindle the pursuit of genuine wisdom. But we also need to use new tools like cost-benefit analysis and algorithms to identify similar ways of saying the same thing and create a stock market to trade and invest in ideas.

I hope to explain some of these ideas, and look forward to chating and working with you!
